Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Professional Counselor, Reiki level 2 practitioner
If you are reading this, chances are you are feeling stuck. Maybe you find yourself repeating old patterns you know aren't working for you. Or perhaps you are experiencing grief, anger or depression. Perhaps you are having problems in your relationships: personal or professional. Whatever it is, it's keeping you from experiencing the joy and beauty in life. It may be time for a change!
Psychotherapy is a common and useful means of self-growth and self-actualization for many people. Therapy can help people to deal with obstacles which interfere with emotional and mental well-being. Working with the right therapist can help treat specific mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and addictions. Many people in therapy do not have a diagnosable mental health condition; they are simply seeking help for relationship problems, stress management, life purpose or even struggling with spiritual or change of life concerns. Therapy may support people in making lifestyle changes, serve as a listening ear, and/or provide specific approaches or techniques for exploring and transforming unwanted thoughts, behaviors, or emotions.
Carla is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario. She is also a Registered Professional Counselor (RPC) with the Canadian Professional Counselors Association (CPCA) and a member of the Canadian Humanistic and Transpersonal Association (CHTA). She practices a form of integrative or Holistic therapy, drawing on a wide range of therapeutic methods based on humanistic insights to help individuals recognize their strengths, creativity, choice and growth. It is an approach that tries to do justice to the whole person including mind, body and spirit.
I believe Life offers us many lessons and opportunities to learn about ourselves. I also believe when we develop Self Awareness, Accountability and an Ability to have an honest look at one self, we create an opportunity to see the world and our relationships more clearly and with deeper purpose. Getting to know our inner workings and processing issues that have not been looked at or dealt with can bring us to a place of Self Acceptance and allow us to become more at peace and open to the world around us. Looking at our past -not in an attempt to rehash or dwell- but to put to rest what is unsettled can bring us to a place of understanding and how the past may be influencing our current life and relationships. It takes courage and a willingness to look within, but I believe therapy is a worthwhile endeavor of Self Exploration that can lead to that Self Understanding, Awareness and Acceptance we are so often seeking outside of ourselves. Very simply, the purpose of psychotherapy is to remove the blocks to truth. Our own truths about ourselves, our world, our relationships. My personal mission is to do my best in assisting you to reach a new and profound level of liberation on all levels: Psychological, Emotional and Spiritual.
What is Spiritual/Transpersonal Psychotherapy?
Spiritual Psychotherapy or Transpersonal psychotherapy is an approach to therapy which tries to do justice to the whole person including mind, body and spirit. It represents a broad range of therapeutic methods. Each method recognizes the self-healing capacities of the client. It involves encouraging the individual to discover the deep core of who they really are. Spiritual Psychotherapy takes a holistic approach in addressing our need to go beyond ordinary consciousness, helping clients see the spiritual significance behind painful experiences and childhood wounds, working with dreams, guided imagery, meditation and accessing aspects of the soul to deepen our awareness in the therapeutic process. It is non-dogmatic and does not follow any religious concepts but does acknowledge the multi-dimensional aspects of our humanity, taking a holistic approach to mental and emotional wellbeing. When we acknowledge the needs of our soul as well as our human experience the possibility for profound inner healing becomes available to us

What To Expect During Visits
My approach to therapy is psycho-spiritual in nature. My work is client-centered, meaning I meet you 'where you're at' and guide you gently yet firmly to explore your truths, memories and emotions. I practice mainly psychodynamic modalities which pay attention to the client's subjective and unconscious aspects of the self to understand dificulties. It's focus is on enabling the client to make independent decisions and choices at their own rate and as your therapist I act as a guide to helping you discover what those decisions and choices are. We will also look to the past with Family of Origin and Inner Child Work. Spiritual principles such as compassion, transformation, forgiveness and gratitude are often experienced when doing this work which helps support spiritual growth.
I use a wide range of treatment approaches to make each client’s appointment as individual as they are.
Therapeutic Tools I use to further the healing process:
- Talk Therapy
- Guided Visualization
- Meditation and Chakra psychotherapy (works directly with the human energy field and the mind/body connection)
- Voice dialogue
- Inner child work
- Art and drawing
- Body psychotherapy
- Sub-Personalities/Inner Critic
- Experiential Psychotherapy
- Dream Work
About My Journey
I have a deep passion for the work I do with my clients and feel that my journey to becoming a psychotherapist has been in process my whole life! I started my career training as a Registered Massage Therapist knowing at a fairly young age I really wanted to work with people in a healing and therapeutic environment. In my work as a RMT I started to become aware of the correlation of physical pain and health to mental and emotional issues and well-being. I learned a lot about myself and the human experience through my interactions and relationships with my massage clients. It was through these interactions that my path lead me to learn about the human energy system and so I found myself taking courses in the holistic field of chakras, vibrational healing and energetic therapies. I studied and practiced meditation, mindfulness, and spiritual studies for a few years and my path organically lead me to the Spiritual Psychotherapy program at TAC. My thirst to understand myself and others on all levels mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I began my own personal psychotherapy while I was involved in my energy studies as my inner world and consciousness were changing and transforming. My therapy and self-exploration shifted as I began the psychotherapy program and have been a true life changing experience. I continue to partake in my own personal journey through therapy and through clinical supervision as my life and career continue to progress and grow!
I have a profound understanding and compassion for the work it takes to go on a journey to healing and Self-Awareness, and have been witness to the shift and growth it can have. I believe true health is not just about the physical body, but about wellness of our mind, spirit and emotions. Because our deepest humanity resides in our Spirit!
Carla is also a Registered Massage Therapist practicing since 2002 and is a certified Reiki level 2 practitioner.
