Doula Services

A Naturopathic Doula is a naturopathic doctor who can provide mental, emotional, and physical support to the labouring mom and her partner. A doula does not have the role of delivering your baby; that is the role of your OB or midwife.

Naturopathic Doula Services are offered as 3 or 5 visits packages. If you are already one of Daniella’s patients, the 3-visit package is best suited. For those who are new patients and want doula services exclusively, the 5-visits package is best suited. Here is what the visits look like.

Prenatal Visits 1-2
During these visits, a full comprehensive medical history will be recorded as well as any pertinent physical exams, including vitals and a urine test. In addition, nutrition and lifestyle will be addressed and recommendations will be given to keep you as healthy as can be for you and your baby. Daniella will also help you develop a birth plan so that on the day of your baby’s birth, she will be able to provide you with the best care without distracting or interrupting the labour and delivery process. Handouts will be given to help you prepare for your baby’s birth. Daniella will also discuss with you when to call her on the day you go into labour.

Labour and Delivery Day
Daniella will provide naturopathic care for up to and including 24 hours. That is why it is important to know when to call her, which will be discussed in the prenatal visits. This is when she will be able to address pain management and relaxation with naturopathic therapies including botanical medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, massage, and hydrotherapy. Daniella will have your birth plan on hand and make sure things run smoothly and according to your preferences.

Postpartum Visits 4-5
During these visits, Daniella will ensure the health and recovery of mom and baby. She can also provide breastfeeding help and answer any questions that you may have. These visits are an opportunity to go over the post partum section of your birth plan to ensure that you are receiving the support and care you need from family and/or friends. Any addition visits aside from the doula packages will be considered a regular naturopathic visit.
